About This Condition
PTSD can develop after a traumatic event and may cause intrusive memories, nightmares, avoidance, irritability and constant alertness. Psychotherapy helps many people, but only a few medications are approved for PTSD, so research into new treatments is especially important.

Who May Be Eligible?
PTSD studies usually enroll adults with a PTSD diagnosis who are experiencing current symptoms. Veterans, first responders and civilians may be eligible depending on the study.
