About This Condition
Major depressive disorder affects mood, sleep, energy, concentration and interest in daily life. Many people improve with therapy and medication, but a significant number continue to have symptoms after trying several treatments. Research is essential to find new options that work faster and help more people.
What Clinical Trials May Study
- New medications with different mechanisms of action
- Add-on treatments for people who respond only partially to antidepressants
- Long-term safety and tolerability of new therapies
Dr. Hidalgo’s Research Experience
As Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator, Dr. Hidalgo has taken part in studies such as:
- Phase 3 studies of REL-1017 as an add-on treatment for major depressive disorder (RELIANCE program)
- A long-term open-label safety study of REL-1017
- A one-year open-label safety study in adults with major depressive disorder
Who May Be Eligible?
Most depression studies enroll adults with a current episode of major depression. Some studies look for people who are already taking an antidepressant but still have symptoms. A research coordinator will review the specific criteria with you.
