Epilepsy Clinical Trials in Miami
Research studies for children and adults with epilepsy, including hard-to-treat and rare forms of the disease.
About This Condition
Epilepsy causes recurrent seizures that can affect safety, school, work and independence. About one in three people continue to have seizures despite trying several medications, and some rare epilepsies that begin in childhood have very few treatment options.
What Clinical Trials May Study
- New add-on medications for seizures that are not controlled
- Treatments for rare childhood epilepsies
- Rescue medications that can be given quickly during a seizure
Dr. Hidalgo’s Research Experience
As Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator, Dr. Hidalgo has taken part in studies such as:
- A Phase 2/3 study of BHV-7000 in refractory focal onset epilepsy
- A Phase 3 study of XEN1101 as an add-on therapy for primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures
- A study of LP352 in developmental and epileptic encephalopathies
- A Phase 3 study of ganaxolone in epilepsy related to tuberous sclerosis complex (TrustTSC)
- A Phase 1/2a study of VALTOCO nasal spray in children aged 2 to 5 with epilepsy
Who May Be Eligible?
Epilepsy studies may enroll children, adolescents or adults depending on the trial. Most require a seizure diary and a history of seizures despite current treatment.
